And those officers supplied provisions for King Solomon, and for all who came to King Solomon’s table, each one in his month; they let nothing be lacking. I Kings 4:27
My husband and I had the privileged responsibility of shadowing a home inspector as he scrutinized the new home being purchased by my daughter and her husband. We felt greater duty to keep our attention keenly focused on his work, for we were their eyes and ears during this important part of the home-buying process. I was especially surprised at some of the areas he evaluated searching for any current or potential problems, and what he found; things I certainly never would have considered. His knowledge of building codes and state regulations is part of his job, but I couldn’t help feel he took it a step further, stopping here and there along the way, to point out important areas to be routinely taken care of, with suggestions that would keep their home well-maintained in the future. He left nothing undone, no area was lacking attention when he completed his task. We felt confident when we reported back to them our interpretation of the day’s events and had a better understanding of what makes a home safe, well-built and enduring. Through the assistance of this knowledgeable young man, we were able to reassure our daughter and son-in-law that nothing was lacking in their new home.
The officers under King Solomon had the responsibility of providing provisions to the King and all who ate at his table. Each had a time frame that was theirs to cover and they did so, accepting their responsibility gratefully and carrying it out diligently. They made certain they supplied all that was necessary. Peace reigned under King Solomon; people were happy and content with their lives; they were satisfied. What is lacking in your life today? Where or to whom can you turn, to assist you in having that need filled? God has placed so many knowledgeable people and wonderful gifts in our midst; ours to seek out, ours for the receiving, ours to expect, ours to be grateful for. Why? He wants us to lack nothing.
Triune God, you leave nothing lacking in our lives; sometimes though, we find it difficult to see our responsibility in participating in it. In faith we seek!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day my blog friends!
