March 1
If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how can you believe if I tell you of heavenly things? John 3:12
Lifting the shades this morning, all that I can see is a world enveloped in gossamer hues of light. The fog settled in before dawn, clouding all vision. No longer visible were the houses of friends that surround our little snug home. No longer could I see neighbors walking their dogs in the early morning light. No longer noticeable were our shrubs and trees or birds and squirrels who usually bustle about in the snow searching for food. But I do know that they are still there - by instinct, by routine, by the sights I see and feel and witness each day of my life. I have faith that they remain, just obscured from my view right now.
Is not our vision of “heavenly things” so clouded at times? We know by Faith what God has promised us. We know by Faith what joy and sights are right in front of us - surrounding us actually. We know by Faith what is just beyond our reach. When the “fog” that blinds us lifts, what elation there will be! Sights will be presented to us that were invisible to us before! How many visions will astonish us with their beauty, illuminated with God’s light? What sights have been ever present before us, obscured by our inability to see through gossamer hues of light?
God, help our unbelief! Please remove the fog that clouds our vision that we may see the beauty of your light.
