The blessing of the Lord brings wealth, without painful toil
for it. Proverbs 10:22
When it comes to wealth, some of us immediately envision an environment imbued with opulence and power, and the appearance of a care-free, successful, happy, but extravagant way of life. However things and success are transitory, fleeting. We all know that in reality the most desired acquisitions in life are those that money cannot buy: love, good health, family, peace of mind, integrity, faith, trust, and contentment to name a few - any of which can fill our souls and spirits with immeasurable joy. Things and accomplishment are not capable of filling us with inner joy, only temporary happiness at best. Then again, we are challenged by a society that bases a person’s worth by the measure of their success and subsequent amassing of “things;” except, we are not products of some figment of society’s yard stick, we are God’s children!
The wealth the prophets refer to here are those things that no matter how hard we try, no matter how “successful” we are, we cannot make happen. Like a myriad or color, they are gifts from God wrapped in His blessings, chosen by him for us and there to savor; there to treasure and delight in; there to fill our lives with happiness. What measure of wealth has God placed in front of you to fill your heart with joy? Do you recognize the Giver of all good things? Is He waiting for an acknowledgement? Think about it. Meditate on it. Then give thanks to God for the spark of absolute elation you feel within because of these freely given blessings, sent your way out of pure love; and know, there is more where they came from. And best of all, you don’t even have to do a thing, just anticipate!
For the wealth of blessings You send our way, we lift our hearts up to You in gratitude!
