Then he showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb. Revelation 22:1
Crystal prisms are fascinating! There is something captivating about the way light filters through these objects made of glass and crystal with their ever-changing outreaching rays that transform as the conditions of the light do. How different are these beams as sunlight passes through, creating a rainbow-like image of green and blue, yellow, red and purple, darting in all directions and falling upon all surfaces they reach . . . often far into a room; as opposed to the stagnant seemingly lifeless appearance in a darkened area. The prism is still there, but with no light passing through, the surrounding area is no longer touched by its beauty. Like a prism, sometimes our light can be darkened, clouded over by the difficulties we face in life – or a cold heart; we become stagnant. Our light remains, but in our self-absorption, it becomes dimmed and difficult to be seen by others.
How awesome to consider the river of the water of life, flowing from God’s throne, “bright as crystal!” It is easy to envision the beauty and warmth that comes from this crystal clear water; to envision its light flowing through us with its varied hues of color permeating our souls and filling us with life-giving energy. Through God’s grace, we are renewed. We are given the ability to move forward, enabling that light within to be sparked into fullness again, enabling the many colors of our light to again shine forth in many directions, touching all in our presence.
Heavenly Father, thank you for your life-giving water! May Your light, like crystal, shine forth through us! Abba! Father! We are yours.
