And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God is its light, and its lamp is the lamb. Revelation 21:23
As the rays of light darted through the shimmering leaves, illuminating a path through the yard and reflecting off the walkway stones, I looked up in awe. The full moon, lighting up the universe in all its glory, took my breath away! Even Maizy, with her aged eyesight had no problem circumventing the yard with this heavenly light guiding her way. While she carefully nosed around the entire perimeter of her domain, I found myself thinking about all the people I know in different cities and States, yet close enough to see this incredible sight right now, right at this very moment! No matter how many miles separated us, here we all were, under this glorious, beaming light from God. Oh the peace that came over me!
Suddenly I was transported back to a cold, February night many years ago, when my “boyfriend” in the glow of moonlight, handed me a present. Excitedly I opened the tenderly wrapped hinged box to find a bracelet of stones I’d never seen before that took my breath away! His eyes sparkling, he said they were moonstones; beautiful oval, milky-white, translucent stones with a hint of blue, set in silver and connected to each other with silver links. The stones seemed to glow with a light from within! I was awestruck by their beauty and proudly wore that bracelet, often running my fingers over those smooth, polished stones which always seemed to have a calming effect on me. Today when I wear that bracelet, my granddaughters’ eyes sparkle when they see those glowing stones, and they stand in awe when I tell them how young I was when Grampie gave it to me!
Like the ageless moonlight God has given us to light our paths, His love is timeless - constant, shimmering through the darkness within us to light our way and give direction and peace to our spirits. God’s love – the glowing center of all His creation - connects each one of us together like links of silver. No matter where we are, or how far away, we are one in that love. How awesome is our God!
For the constant light and love you send our way, we thank you God!
