Because an excellent spirit, knowledge, and understanding to interpret dreams, explain riddles, and solve problems were found in this Daniel . . . let Daniel be called, and he will show the interpretation. Daniel 5:12
In every family there seems to be one particular person everyone turns to for answers to everything! Through the example of their lives, trust in their confidence, their “knowledge and understanding” and their forthright honesty, that place has been earned, and they are often the "glue" that keeps us together. If they do not have an immediate answer, we know they will research the issue and come up with pertinent information or a solution to the matter in question. In addition, their perception is usually extraordinary, with the ability to “read between the lines” so to speak, having keen intuition that is not taken lightly. Solutions and answers they present are highly regarded, even when those answers received may not be what had been hoped for. In addition, their insight allows us to consider fresh ideas, as situations are approached from a different viewpoint. Furthermore, there is an unspoken awareness that this person’s deep faith in God has influenced every answer. Their lives are a reflection of prayer and thanksgiving. God is consulted first when faced with difficult problems and an attitude of gratitude and joy radiates from them. God clearly has gifted them. How blessed we are if we have one such extraordinary person in our lives!
At the same time, each one of us adds something unique to every life we touch. We may not think we are that “fix it all - glue" person, but without that special piece we add to one another’s life, there is a valuable part missing . . . a part that only we can complete. Sometimes we have no idea just how much what we have to offer is being absorbed by the person we are with. And what a gift too, when we are in the company of one who has the ability to encourage our own search for solutions – who motivates us to seek out the answers to the questions we have, and understands when to do that!
God has put special, faith-filled people in our lives since the beginning of time, to guide us, assist us, comfort us, bring us hope and help us become the well-rounded people He intended. They are in our families, our circle of friends, our neighborhoods, our workplaces . . . you are one of them!
God, each of us is gifted by you to be of service to others. Help us to say and do what is of benefit to each one.
