January 30
And to every beast of the earth, and to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, – I have given every green plant for food.” And it was so. Genesis 1:30
God thought of everything, didn’t he? It is wondrous to simply think of a green plant and its implications to life. Man, utilizes every part of a plant to live. But leaves and stalks are the main food source for many of the other creatures of this earth too, including cattle, deer, bear and giraffes, to name a few. Seed pods, a part of the recreation of the plant, are an enormous food source in themselves, providing food for a variety of creatures such as birds, elephants, squirrels, monkeys, foxes and insects as well as man. Never mind the seeds! How moles, chipmunks and mice love to nibble away at the roots of veggies and flowers to the annoyance of many a gardener too! And insects find plenty of food for themselves above ground and underground. In the water, the inhabitants there nibble away at the pond plants and even the algae that grow. Most of all, we need plants for our earth to survive. The oxygen they produce in photosynthesis is an essential part of our ecological balance. And how beautiful each plant is!
