But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumph, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere.2 Corinthians 2:14
It’s Valentine’s Day! How many households will be filled with the fragrance of flowers today? That elating scent that permeates the air in a room and is immediately recognized when one enters it. And all those flowers have to do is just be there. They don’t shout with joy, sing, do a dance, or try to fill someone’s head with convincing talk about how good they smell; their presence is enough. Their presence is real. For every cell in that part of a flower that provides scent, does its own quiet work, emanating an uplifting, peaceful, perfume that none other can supply.
When we open our hearts to God and seek His knowledge, He gives it to us. Like a fine fragrance it surrounds us, fills every cell in our bodies as we breathe it in like a mist, and unsurprisingly, with little effort on our part, emanates from us spreading outward toward all whose lives we touch, and everything we do in life. Our very being reflects God’s goodness and with God’s grace and love, His presence will be recognized through the quiet work we do.
Lord, may we be worthy of being part of the fragrant bouquet that brings the knowledge of You to others! Abba! Father! We are yours!
