Now, brethren, you know that the household of Steph´anas were the first converts in Acha´ia, and they have devoted themselves to the service of the saints; I Corinthians 16:15
How many priests, ministers and lay people of God have been placed in our lives at just the right moment? The inspirational words during a sermon that encourage us and help us on our path to God; the hospital Chaplain that visits with the Eucharist along with words of prayer and compassion when the body is in need of healing; the friends who reach out in times of need, understanding broken dreams and hearts, offering support in their own unique way and whose Christ centered lives encourage us; the author whose thought provoking writings offer inspiration and motivation to soul search, then push us to reach higher than we ever thought possible; all these people and so many more have devoted themselves to the service of us all – to God’s people - and we are blessed. How our lives have been affected by them in so many ways, but the underlying thread running through their actions is that in each one, we are drawn closer to God.
It is unthinkable to imagine how my life would be without those who have influenced me so greatly and it becomes clearer as I view the tapestry of my life, that God placed them there when I needed their assistance most on this journey toward Him, providing a change in the pattern of my life and adding color and texture to the very fabric of it. It is humbling and exhilarating at the same time. We are so loved by God! He uses everyone and everything around us as a reminder of His presence and to provide the support we need to live life fully.
Think about all the people in your life who have touched you in some way and consider how your life has been changed and enriched because of them. Take a few moments today to reflect on the blessings that resulted because of the gift of their loving spirit and offer to God your deep gratitude for them.
Thank you God for the gift of all the devoted people who do your work on this earth, who wrap us in your loving arms and surround us in a blanket of love.
