that in every way you were enriched in him with all speech and all knowledge - I Corinthians 1:5
As any college freshman knows, participating in a speech course can be intimidating. It is not easy to get up in front of a group of people to speak, but is especially more challenging before our peers. Why do we feel so self-conscious? We fear not measuring up to what is expected. We fear the inability to articulate what we hope to. We want to present our best and fear having that criticized – not being good enough, as we compare our knowledge and ability to someone we know to be outstanding in those areas. But God does not always choose the “best and brightest.” He used ordinary people in all the years gone by, that we read about in Scripture, and still does today. He uses ordinary people like you and I as examples of living a faith-filled life. He uses ordinary people like you and I to witness His ever-presence with us. He uses ordinary people like you and I to share our stories of faith and love.
We all have knowledge to share with others. We all have different gifts and abilities and certainly some speakers are more enjoyable to listen to than others. But this passage has certainly given me pause for thought when I have to present any information to anyone, whether it is one person or a group of people. To remember that our knowledge has come from God and He will always help us express it to whom He wants and when He wants, give us courage. All we have to do is ask for His direction. He will use us as we are.
Heavenly Father may our words be your words today.
Again, my dear blog friends, I thank you for your continued, much needed prayers for our "Nan."
Also, please let us know of your need for prayers, and I will be sure to post them here, either under comments, or at my email address: m
