So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. Luke 11:9
One of our daughters and her husband needed more space for their growing family at the same time my son-in-law was seeking new employment. Unfortunately jobs in his line of work were becoming scarce, in addition to the fact that home sales were at their lowest in years during this time. To make matters more complicated, they were also looking to move to a different State. Well-meaning people would caution them that they were trying to do too much; that to sell their home to purchase one in another State, never mind his obtaining a position in that location, all just seemed to be lot to expect to happen at the “right” time; circumstances had to occur at precisely the right moment for there to be a positive outcome. Certainly there were frustrations at times. Certainly there were tests of their patience. Certainly there were occasions when what they wanted to happen did not and they had to return to square one. Certainly even those of us with faith in God’s ability to see us through had moment of doubt. But they did not give up. Within one year of the beginning of their search for these changes in their lives, they were settled in a cozy new home, in a neighborhood with “friends” for their little one; my son-in-law had a new job in a nearby location making his commute less complicated; there was a school nearby for their daughter to attend and most of all, they were nearer to their family. With faith and hard work everything came to pass. How good God is!
How we underestimate God's promises to us! It is a test of our patience to wait with faith for answers to our prayers. But, doesn’t Luke’s passage give us hope to remain steadfast in our expectations in the interim?
Heavenly Father, thank you for your goodness to us; for the examples in the lives around us that give us hope in your answers to our ceaseless knocks on your door!
My dear blog friends, thank you for the prayers for our Mother, Ann. She has made it through surgery and is in God's hands.
