But how are they to call on one in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in one in whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone to proclaim him? Romans 10:14
As I sipped on my first cup of coffee for the day, I was almost startled by the crackle, pop, and snap of the rice cereal in my Husband’s bowl as he poured sweet, cold milk over it! Stirring it a bit before he took his first mouthful, it became even more noisy. Never noticed how loud it could be! His favorite cereal giving me an early morning wake up call!
I couldn’t help but think about how often I crackle and bristle at God’s call to me, sometimes going extra miles to shake off the stirrings that are felt within, brushing them aside and trying not to pay attention. God’s call to us at times certainly may not seem convenient and can surely stir up a lot of uncertainty! Then pop! Something unexpectedly presents itself right before my eyes, and I am startled into looking squarely into His message for me, with my first thought being, it is coincidence and my second, knowing full well that nothing is.
Everything we experience is part of His magnificent plan; a plan exclusively designed for each one of us. We may not understand, and maybe never will in this life, but just to know we are part of that plan of His for this beautiful universe He has created, in itself should snap us into remembering that whatever we experience or endure, is essential to our spiritual development. But more importantly, at the same time may well be even more so to someone else’s.
Oh Lord! Life is not easy at times, and as we falter and pick ourselves up again under its burden, we hear you calling to us! May we reach for you always!
