How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of the messenger who announces peace, who brings good news, who announces salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns. Isaiah 52:7
My grandson, Ryan just wrote a piece at school about his feet. This little 7 year old was instructed to write something about a part of his body he considered “beautiful.” He chose his feet. A picture of them was taken, and hung on the board at school next to his writing, there for his Mom and Dad and little brother, and all to see at “Open House” the other night. My daughter was completely surprised and shared with me how this writing had touched her heart. She was taken aback with the depth of his thoughts . . . as his writing reflected his appreciation of how fast he could run, jump, dance, climb and play soccer with his “beautiful feet.” At the same time she was in awe of his level of ability to articulate those thoughts. And despite the turmoil that filled my heart this morning. . . thinking about his beautiful little feet running the bases at little league, dancing and kicking a ball at soccer or in position at taekwondo, my heart was full blown with peace and I could not help but smile thinking about the joy all my grandchildren’s little dancing feet bring to my soul.
We take so much for granted without meaning to. If we are able to walk, run, dance, climb, kick or wiggle our toes, how good God is! How blessed we are. What part of you do you consider beautiful? I know what God would say. “All of YOU, because I made YOU!”
Oh Lord, you tell us we have made us in your likeness! You have made us into the people you want us to be and given us a body to accomplish what we should. You have made us perfect in your sight. Let us never lose sight of that. Abba! Father! We are yours!
