April 2
but when they had fed to the full, they were filled, and their heart was lifted up; therefore they forgot me. Hosea 13:6
Why is it so easy to forget the good things and dwell on the negative? It seems when things are going well, we still manage to find something to complain about or to remember; something that spins us into a web of negativity. It can preoccupy our every thought, dragging us down into a pit that no one else may even notice, but within our souls, we know. That focus on negativity can become our god; our thoughts, spirit and energy wrapped solely around this undesirable thinking rather than our Heavenly Father, the One from whom all good comes. Robbing us of gratitude, our thinking is distorted and pessimistic.
We are cautioned by our Lord to acknowledge no god but Him. He is a patient Father just waiting for our return to Him, for our gratitude to Him, for us never to forget what He does and has done for us. When we remember the many ways our God has fed our bodies and souls with all we needed to the point of overflowing; how can we ever forget Him?
Gracious God, you have satisfied our longing in so many ways, we thank you. Please! Never let us forget you!
Please remember in your prayers Boston Fire Lt. Edward Walsh whose funeral Mass is today, as well as his wife and children.
