The waters become hard like stone, and the face of the deep is frozen. Job 38:30
The world outside my window is a land of icicles and snow; cold, hard and barren, yet brilliantly beautiful at the same time. Any sunlight peeking through is almost blinding in its brilliance, yet breathtakingly reveals droplets of frozen water like shimmering gems everywhere! The two day, immense blizzard encased us - stopped us all for a bit, and made us appreciate a warm home, warm food, water and the warmth of loving hearts.
It is a joy to observe my two granddaughters, Abby and Kayla, who are captivated by the movie Frozen and everything surrounding it! They sing the music, have the latest items that enable them to role play and have fun; all the while getting the message; it was love that broke through the ice of a cold and frozen heart; it is love that brings family and all people together.
Perhaps this is why God enables us to experience cold and emptiness sometimes. It’s a gift that provides so much opportunity when we keep our heart open to it. As an example, in all the extra work snow removal has entailed these past few days, the opportunity for neighbor helping neighbor presented itself, so much more noticeable because of the trend today of a very private existence of many.
We need to remember and hold on to knowing that love can melt a frozen, hard heart, just as the sun can melt the frozen, solid earth. What a blessing He has given us!
For the ice and the sun we thank you, Lord! Abba! Father! We are yours!
